Hey there friends! I am LaShaunta C, however you can call me Sunshine. I am the founder of SunshineFX, the brand and Owner of Sunshine Avenue Hair Studio. I am a Houston based licensed Cosmetologist, curly hair specialist ( Rëzo cut certified), certified hair loss practitioner, farmer, and a student of herbology! I cater to all hair types, performing cuts, color, extensions and natural hair services with HEALTHY HAIR as my TOP PRIORITY. I am also able to provide insight on how to keep your body healthy in the most natural way possible.
I founded The SunshineFX in 2019 with the goal of sharing my sunshine with the world. SunshineFX is a company focused on promoting the benefits of healing for the body using various tools. Through education, access, and service SFX supports, inspires, and educates its clients by providing beauty services, business services, and educational blogs as tools for healthy living.
I am a native to Toledo Ohio, and Ive been a current resident of the wonderful Houston Texas since 2014. The only girl of six (Yes! I have five brothers!) still finding beauty everywhere! As a child I developed an interest in skincare with a goal of becoming a Dermatologist! Little did I know becoming a Cosmetologist would fulfill my dreams and give me the opportunity to be a “Hair/Beauty Doctor” plus more. Daily I am blessed with the opportunity to add sunshine to the hearts of every client, making them feel and look their best with each encounter.
I received my cosmetology license in 2013 after attending Toni & Guy Hairdressing academy as a second attempt at hair school. I originally attended hair school in Ohio in 2006 one year after graduating high school. During that time, the school was not eligible for financial assistance of any sort, so I was required to pay out of pocket or get private loans. I worked two jobs while attending school, however, I was unable to afford to pay out of pocket. Despite the financial struggles in the beginning I completed school at the perfect time for me. I passed my state board exam June 25, 2013 (three days before my birthday - June 28)! Getting to this point in my career has taken tears of joy and pain, and many sleepless nights, yet I would not change any of it. As Frederick Douglass said "If there is no struggle, there is no progress."
My love for people, excitement to educate, compassion for others, and attention to detail is what sets me apart from others in the industry. My passion drives me to ensure I share with my clients how to have and maintain a healthy relationship with their body. I strive to give my clients the best of everything, including me!
